1.
TAXES
We
will not give risky tax breaks PILOT (Payment In Lieu Of Taxes) to developers who
are indicted felons. Mayor Sobel and the current
council agreed to this sweetheart deal for Mirror Lake developer
Anthony Spalliero
Retain an auditing firm that will help us find innovative ways to reduce
taxes. The current firm, who’s principal, is
a convicted felon, would be terminated immediately upon our taking
office. We see no need to continue doing business with a firm that
can’t find creative ways for Aberdeen to move out of being
one of the top 5 highest taxed municipalities in Monmouth
County.
Stop
the overdevelopment which contributes to the negative cost impact
on the school system. This inflates our taxes. The school system
does not create the demand for revenue, it is the mayor and council
who control it because they make the appointments to the Township
Planning and Zoning Boards.
2.
Overdevelopment
Stop
Grand Central Station from coming to Aberdeen. Their plan
includes elevated parking garages for twelve thousand cars for the
train station. That's TWELVE THOUSAND additional vehicles
rolling through our town every weekday, clogging our roads and
polluting the air we breathe. Our responsible plan, develop a small,
pedestrian downtown hub
around the train station. We want a business district with a small
town atmosphere. If
elected we will not allow for multiple ten story structures in the
heart of our town! This
is out of character with our town. Main Street USA or Metro park,
we believe most of our neighbors want Main Street.
We
are committed to having a county park created in Freneau. The freeholders
are in litigation to acquire the land that was deeded to them in
a will. The mayor and council favor indicted felon Anthony Spalliero’s
development. Once this beautiful lake and natural habitat are gone
we can never get it back!
Mayor
Sobel and the council are willing to pave paradise and put up a parking
lot!

Open Government
What
are they hiding?
How
long have Mayor Sobel and the council known about the train station
plans? In 2003, They said "There were no plans". Quoting Mayor Sobel,
The Independent newspaper, Sept. 14, 2005 “The misconception
that we wanted
a metro park south continued to play out daily”.
However, Silver Oaks
(The developer chosen by the mayor and council); states in their
proposal that "The closest comparison to their development is metro
park."
Who
is telling the truth?
