OPEN LETTER TO ABERDEEN RESIDENTS
We would
like to take this time to thank you, the voters of Aberdeen
Township, who supported us in the recent local election. We
congratulate the winners. Although not successful in our endeavor,
the election numbers were close enough to give pause to the Aberdeen Democrats to reconsider the direction in which they
are leading our township.
Lest they
feel their victory to be a “mandate” to go ahead with their plans to
build Grand Central Station or the Port Authority at the train
station, we would point out that all districts surrounding the
station went Republican, rejecting the Democrats’ “Metropark”
plans. We encourage the Mayor and Township Council to revise these
plans to something more in scale with Aberdeen, Matawan and Monmouth
County, then post these plans on the township’s web site. The
secrecy must end.
We continue
our support of Monmouth County’s efforts to acquire a park in
Freneau, which would prevent an undesirable developer (Anthony
Spalliero) from building in that rural section.
The Democrat
administration in Aberdeen and the bosses behind the scenes present
an ongoing situation crying out for reform. In 2003, they accepted
contributions of $4,000 from JPI, developer of Jefferson apartments,
now Versailles, and $5,000 from Kara Homes, developer of Aspen Woods
on Route 34 and Aberdeen Forge in Freneau. And so far this year they
“wheeled” $1,000 to the Hazlet Township Democrat campaign! It’s no
wonder the Democrats in Trenton continue to fight meaningful reforms
of “pay-to-play” laws and an end to “wheeling”; they subsist upon
it.
In 2008 the
Republican Party will continue to monitor the activities of the
Mayor and Council, and to stand up for the citizens of Aberdeen.
